Ingredients

  • 4 eggs + 1 egg yolk, at room temperature
  • 1 ½ tablespoons vanilla bean paste
  • ⅔ cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 6 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease and flour three 6-inch or two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well blended.
  3. Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and mix until the texture resembles small crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla bean paste until fully combined.
  5. Add half of the wet mixture to the flour mixture and mix on medium-high speed until smooth, about 1-2 minutes. Then, add the remaining wet ingredients and mix until fully combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 22-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
