- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

- ¼ cup milk (adjust for desired consistency)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined. The batter will be thin.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing on low speed until combined.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and milk. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy. Adjust the consistency with more milk if necessary.
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Use additional frosting to create decorative designs, such as swirls, rosettes, or even chocolate shavings for an elegant touch.
