- 8 oz spaghetti or linguine
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest and set the pasta aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the shrimp. Pour in the reserved pasta water and lemon juice, tossing everything together to combine. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.
- Serve the garlic butter shrimp pasta hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
