Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk mixture. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest until smooth and well combined.
- Once the cake has cooled completely, drizzle the lemon glaze over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- Cut the cake into slices and serve. Enjoy the refreshing taste of lemon!
