- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs and granulated sugar. Using an electric mixer, beat on high speed for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture is thick, pale, and has doubled in volume.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture using a spatula.
- Drizzle the melted butter and vanilla extract over the batter, and gently fold until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
