Description

Shrimp with Vodka Sauce is a delightful seafood pasta dish that combines shrimp, creamy vodka sauce, and pasta for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces pasta of your choice (such as penne or fettuccine)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and chicken or vegetable broth. Stir to combine and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Add red pepper flakes if desired, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the sauce to simmer for another 5 minutes.
  5. Gently add the shrimp to the sauce and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Stir in the chopped basil.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the shrimp and sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.
  7. Plate the shrimp pasta and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
