Description

Spicy Shrimp Tacos are a flavorful and zesty dish that brings a taste of the coast to your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Lime wedges (for serving)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate Shrimp: In a bowl, combine the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated. Let marinate for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Heat Skillet: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a little olive oil. Once hot, add the marinated shrimp in a single layer.
  3. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl, mix together the sour cream or Greek yogurt, lime juice, hot sauce, and salt. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Warm Tortillas: Heat the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until warm and pliable. On each tortilla, layer shredded cabbage, cooked shrimp, diced tomatoes, avocado slices, and a drizzle of the sauce. Top with chopped cilantro.
  6. Serve: Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for an extra burst of flavor.

Notes

  • Adjust the hot sauce to your preferred spice level.
  • Feel free to add other toppings like cheese or salsa.
