Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder to the butter, mixing on low speed to prevent a sugar cloud. Once combined, increase the speed to medium and beat until well blended.
  3. Pour in the caramel sauce and vanilla extract. Mix on medium speed until fully incorporated and the frosting is smooth.
  4. Add milk, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until you reach your desired frosting consistency. If the frosting is too thick, add more milk; if too thin, add a little more powdered sugar.
  5. Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors and mix until fully combined.
  6. Use the chocolate caramel frosting immediately to frost your favorite cake or cupcakes, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
