Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (5 oz) tuna, drained and flaked
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for toasting)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped celery, and chopped red onion. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil or butter to the pan. Take a slice of sourdough bread and spread a generous amount of the tuna mixture on top. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the tuna mixture. Place the assembled slice in the skillet, cheese side up. Repeat with the remaining slices of bread.
- Cook the tuna melts for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the slices over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the other side is golden brown.
- Remove the tuna melts from the skillet and let them cool slightly before slicing in half. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious comfort lunch!
Notes
- Adjust seasoning to your preference.
