Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 bell peppers any color, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup uncooked jasmine rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet with lid
  • Medium saucepan for rice
  • Spatula
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

  1. Cook jasmine rice by combining 1 cup uncooked rice with 2 cups beef broth in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add 1 pound ground beef to the skillet. Break apart with a spatula and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  4. Toss in sliced bell peppers and minced garlic. Stir and cook for an additional 5 minutes until peppers soften.
  5. Add cooked jasmine rice to the skillet. Pour in 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon paprika, and salt to taste. Mix well.
  6. Heat through for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Spoon mixture into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

Use lean ground beef for a healthier option. Fresh ingredients enhance overall taste. Mix vegetables as desired - add carrots, snap peas, or broccoli. Let rice sit after cooking to help it firm up. Serve with hot sauce on the side for customizable heat. Can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef.
