- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in milk and vanilla.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the frosting by beating the butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
- Once the cakes are cool, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides.
- Create the bow decoration using fondant or colored icing and place it on top of the cake.
