- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray a rimmed baking dish with non stick spray or line with foil for easy cleanup.
- Pat chicken breasts dry. Brush both sides with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, water, garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper until sugar dissolves.
- Place chicken in the baking dish and pour the sauce evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Drizzle pan sauce over the chicken.
Notes
For a stronger garlic flavor, substitute garlic powder with 2 minced cloves. The sauce is designed to be thin for drizzling over rice or sides.
