- Peel and cube the sweet potatoes, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking.
- Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover with water, about an inch above the potatoes. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and cook for 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain the water and return the sweet potatoes to the pot.
- Using a potato masher or fork, mash the sweet potatoes until smooth and creamy, leaving some small lumps if desired.
- Stir in the softened butter and milk until well combined. Season with salt, pepper, and ground cinnamon to taste.
- Transfer the mash to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm.
