Ingredients
  

Carne Asada Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Flank steak or skirt steak The main protein for the tacos.
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil For marinating the steak.
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced Adds flavor to the marinade.
  • 1 lime Juiced For acidity and flavor in the marinade.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin Adds warmth and depth to the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder For a hint of spice.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Adds color and flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning the meat.

Taco Ingredients

  • 8 small Corn tortillas For serving the carne asada.
  • 1 cup Diced onions For topping the tacos.
  • 1 cup Chopped fresh cilantro For freshness and flavor.
  • 2 limes Cut into wedges For serving with the tacos.
  • to taste Salsa of your choice Optional for added flavor.

Instructions
 

  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix together olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, ground cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  • Place the flank or skirt steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  • Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the leftover marinade.
  • Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F. Adjust cooking time for desired doneness.
  • Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing it against the grain into thin strips.
  • Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
  • Assemble the tacos by placing a few slices of carne asada in the center of each tortilla. Top with diced onions and chopped cilantro.
  • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos and serve with lime wedges and salsa on the side.
