- Marinate the chicken by mixing ground chili, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, lime juice, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large bowl. Add the chicken and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for 1-6 hours.
- Heat a medium skillet over medium-high heat and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add the marinated chicken and cook for about 6 minutes on one side.
- Flip the chicken and cook for another 6-8 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove from skillet and let rest for a few minutes.
- Prepare toppings by chopping cilantro, onions, and slicing lime wedges. If using avocado or guacamole, prepare that as well.
- Assemble the tacos by filling taco shells with diced chicken, then top with cilantro, onions, a squeeze of lime juice, sour cream, and hot sauce if desired.
- Serve the tacos on a platter with extra lime wedges and cilantro for garnish. Enjoy with friends and family!
