- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Sprinkle in the taco seasoning, along with salt and pepper to taste. Stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Warm the taco shells according to package instructions. Spoon the seasoned beef mixture into each taco shell.
- Top each taco with shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream.
- For melted cheese, place filled taco shells in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve immediately.
