Ingredients

Cabbage

  • 1 large head cabbage chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 medium onion sliced thinly
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika adds a smoky flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt enhances the overall taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper for a hint of spice

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar adds a tangy kick
  • 1 teaspoon sugar balances the flavors
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for those who like it spicy
  • Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the cabbage by removing the core and chopping it into bite-sized pieces. Rinse under cold water and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the sliced onion for about 5 minutes until translucent, then add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  • Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet along with smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour in the vegetable broth, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. If desired, add red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.
  • Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the cabbage is tender.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat with a splash of vegetable broth.
