Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat
  • 1.5 pounds baby Yukon gold potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh garlic chopped
  • 5 tablespoons butter cut into pads

Equipment

  • Slow cooker/crockpot
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board

Method

  1. Place beef stew meat in one half of the crockpot and baby potatoes on the other side to help them cook evenly.
  2. Sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder, and seasoned salt evenly over both the beef and potatoes.
  3. Gently toss the beef to coat evenly in the seasoning, keeping it separated from the potatoes.
  4. Add chopped garlic on top of the meat and potatoes, distributing evenly.
  5. Place butter pads over the entire dish for even melting and flavor distribution.
  6. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours until beef is fork-tender and potatoes are buttery soft.
  7. Spoon the flavorful garlic butter sauce from the bottom of the crockpot over the beef and potatoes when serving.

Notes

Use beef chuck for the most tender results. Don't lift the lid unnecessarily during cooking. Cut larger potatoes in half for even cooking. The garlic butter sauce is key to this recipe's incredible flavor.
