Ingredients

  • 2 pounds stew meat cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 0.25 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • skillet

Method

  1. Season the stew meat generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Optional: In a skillet over medium-high heat, sear the meat on all sides until browned for extra flavor.
  3. Transfer the meat to the slow cooker.
  4. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, onion soup mix, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Pour the garlic butter mixture over the meat, ensuring all pieces are evenly coated.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 hours, or until meat is tender and flavorful.
  7. Stir gently before serving to coat meat in the garlic butter sauce.

Notes

Searing the meat is optional but adds a deeper, caramelized flavor. Use fresh garlic for the best taste, and avoid adding too much broth – the sauce should coat, not drown. Perfect with mashed potatoes or crusty bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3–4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
