Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until well combined.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined. If the dough is too dry, add milk as needed.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place the cut-out cookies on ungreased baking sheets and sprinkle with colored sprinkles if desired.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool slightly before transferring to wire racks.
- Once cooled, decorate with icing and additional sprinkles as desired.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness. Can freeze for up to three months.
