  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup White sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Almond extract
  • 3-4 tablespoons Milk Add if dough feels too dry
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

  • Colored sprinkles For decoration
  • Icing For decoration
  • Chocolate chips For added sweetness
  • Nutmeg or cinnamon For added flavor
  • Food coloring For tinting icing or dough

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until well combined.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined. If the dough is too dry, add milk as needed.
  • Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
  • Place the cut-out cookies on ungreased baking sheets and sprinkle with colored sprinkles if desired.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool slightly before transferring to wire racks.
  • Once cooled, decorate with icing and additional sprinkles as desired.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness. Can freeze for up to three months.
