Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each, skin-on preferred
  • 1/4 cup pure honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for cooking
  • 2 tablespoons green onions chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Medium-sized mixing bowl
  • small saucepan
  • large skillet
  • Tongs or wide spatula
  • meat thermometer
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Rinse salmon fillets under cold water and pat completely dry with paper towels. Mince the garlic finely and chop the green onions for garnish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Mix thoroughly until well blended.
  3. Pour the honey garlic mixture into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Simmer gently for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons olive oil. Wait until the oil is hot and shimmering.
  5. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet without overcrowding. Cook undisturbed for 4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Carefully flip each fillet using tongs or a spatula. Immediately brush about half of the honey garlic glaze generously over the tops.
  7. Cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 145°F on a meat thermometer and the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Transfer salmon to serving plates and drizzle remaining glaze over each piece. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

For maximum crispiness, ensure salmon is completely dry before cooking. Don't overcook - remove from heat just before reaching 145°F internal temperature as carryover cooking will finish it perfectly. For deeper flavor, marinate salmon in the glaze for 30 minutes before cooking. Can be grilled, baked at 400°F, or air fried for different textures.
