Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough 8 oz each
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • mixing bowl
  • baking sheet
  • Pastry brush
  • parchment paper

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium-high heat until the beef is browned, about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
  5. Sprinkle about 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the dough triangles.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture over the cheese (about 2 to 3 tablespoons per triangle).
  7. Starting from the wide end of each triangle, roll up the dough and place the rollups on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
  8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. While the rollups are baking, prepare the garlic butter by combining the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley in a small bowl.
  10. As soon as the rollups come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  11. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese before serving, if desired.

Notes

Make sure to drain the ground beef well to prevent soggy rollups. Do not overfill the crescent dough triangles. For extra flavor, add a dash of ketchup and mustard to the beef mixture. You can substitute with different cheeses like provolone or Mexican blend.
