Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour Provides the right balance of protein for structure and softness.
  • 2 teaspoons Instant yeast Helps the dough rise quickly.
  • 2 teaspoons Salt Enhances flavor and controls fermentation.
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Feeds the yeast and adds sweetness.
  • 1.5 cups Warm water (about 110°F) Essential for activating the yeast.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Adds moisture and richness.
  • as needed none Cornmeal (for dusting) Prevents sticking and adds texture.

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
  • Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it seam-side down on a baking sheet dusted with cornmeal. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Score the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
