Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 cups cooked white rice
  • 10.5 oz condensed French onion soup 1 can
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley optional

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • Wooden spoon
  • Large mixing bowl
  • 9x13 inch baking dish

Method

  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until beef is evenly coated.
  3. In a bowl, mix cooked beef, cooked rice, condensed soup, and sour cream until well combined.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly in the dish and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Use day-old rice for better texture. Go for 85/15 lean-to-fat ground beef ratio. For a flavor twist, swap mozzarella with Gruyere or provolone.
