  • 1 loaf brioche or challah bread, cut into cubes
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup (for serving)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Fresh berries (for garnish, optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread cubes and gently press down to soak.
  • Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight. When ready to bake, remove the wrap and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm with maple syrup and fresh berries if desired.

Notes

This dish can be prepared the night before for convenience. Experiment with different types of bread and toppings for variety.
