  • to taste Pickles Optional, for tanginess.

Equipment

  • skillet
  • Toaster
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt.
  2. Place the bologna slices in the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are browned and slightly crispy. If desired, make a small slit in the bologna slices to prevent them from curling up.
  3. While the bologna is frying, toast the bread slices in a toaster or on a separate skillet until golden brown.
  4. Spread mayonnaise on one slice of toasted bread and mustard on the other.
  5. Place the fried bologna on the mayonnaise side, followed by the slice of cheese. If using, add lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles on top of the cheese.
  6. Close the sandwich with the other slice of bread.
  7. For an extra crispy sandwich, return the assembled sandwich to the skillet and grill it for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
