- Prepare all ingredients: peel and devein shrimp, mince garlic, chop parsley, and juice lemon.
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add spaghetti or linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
- Before draining, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water. Drain the pasta and set aside without rinsing.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
- Pour in reserved pasta water and lemon juice, stir to combine, and let simmer for a minute.
- Add cooked pasta to the skillet, toss gently to coat with the garlic butter sauce, and stir in chopped parsley.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
