Instructions
 

  • Gather all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  • In a 9x13 baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Spread the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes. Pour beef broth or water over the meat layer, and drizzle milk if desired. Layer the remaining sliced potatoes on top, then sprinkle with cheddar and Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
