Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets skin-on preferred
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce regular or low sodium
  • 2 tbsp honey mild and runny
  • 2 tbsp oil canola or toasted sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • salt to taste, flaky sea salt recommended for serving

Equipment

  • Shallow baking dish
  • Heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Food thermometer

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 410 degrees F (210 degrees C).
  2. Lay a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil inside a shallow baking dish. Place salmon fillets on top skin-side down and lightly season with salt if desired.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, oil, and minced garlic until well combined. Pour evenly over the salmon fillets.
  4. Fold and seal the foil over the salmon into a loose packet, leaving some air space inside so the fish can steam properly.
  5. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Thicker fillets may require up to 25 minutes total. Serve immediately finished with a pinch of flaky sea salt.

Notes

Use heavy-duty foil or double up to prevent leaking. Always place the foil packet inside a baking dish rather than directly on a sheet pan. Toasted sesame oil and fresh minced ginger are great flavor upgrades. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat best in a low oven at 275 degrees F.
