Ingredients

  • 2 lbs organic chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons On Everything All-Purpose Blend or Italian seasoning, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika optional
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • black pepper to taste
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup organic raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika for sauce
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • pinch sea salt for sauce

Equipment

  • large bowl
  • cutting board
  • 10-inch skillet
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • meat thermometer

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine chicken breasts with olive oil, sea salt, On Everything All-Purpose Blend, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Mix until chicken is fully coated.
  2. On a clean cutting board, cut little slit-like cuts atop each breast, about 1-inch apart to allow sauce penetration.
  3. Place coated chicken in a ziplock bag and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight for best results.
  4. When ready to cook, remove chicken from refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
  5. In a medium 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add honey, cayenne pepper, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and salt to the skillet. Stir until sauce becomes smooth and thick, then remove from heat.
  7. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Arrange seasoned chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet with space between each piece. Spoon half of the hot honey sauce generously onto each chicken breast.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until chicken is golden brown and crispy outside with an internal temperature of 165°F.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Spoon remaining hot honey sauce over the chicken and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

For best results, marinate overnight. Can substitute chicken tenderloins, thighs, or drumsticks. Reduce cayenne and red pepper flakes for less heat. Store in airtight container in refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
