Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon Dried butterfly pea flowers Or 5-6 fresh butterfly pea flowers or 1 butterfly pea tea bag.
  • 1 cup Hot water Used to steep the butterfly pea flowers.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Dairy or plant-based options like almond, coconut, or oat milk.
  • 1-2 teaspoons Honey Or sweetener of your choice (optional).
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice Optional, adds flavor and color change.

Equipment

  • Kettle
  • Glass
  • Milk frother or jar
  • Strainer

Method
 

  1. Boil water in a kettle. Add dried butterfly pea flowers or tea bag to the hot water and steep for 5-7 minutes.
  2. Strain the tea to remove the flowers or tea bag and let it cool to room temperature.
  3. Pour 1/2 cup of milk into a separate container and froth it using a milk frother or shake in a sealed jar.
  4. Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the cooled butterfly pea flower tea over the ice, filling halfway.
  5. Slowly add the frothed milk on top of the tea to create a layered effect.
  6. If desired, add lemon juice to the drink and watch the color change from blue to purple.
  7. Garnish with fresh or dried butterfly pea flowers and serve immediately.
