- Peel and quarter the potatoes. Finely chop the cabbage and green onions.
- Boil the quartered potatoes in a large pot covered with cold water over medium-high heat for about 15-20 minutes until tender.
- In a separate saucepan, bring a small amount of water to a boil. Add the chopped cabbage and cook for about 5 minutes until tender.
- Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the milk and butter, then mash until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold in the cooked cabbage and chopped green onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, optionally garnished with a pat of butter on top.
