Ingredients

  • 8 ounces short pasta penne, rotini, or elbow macaroni
  • 1 pound ground beef can substitute with ground turkey or chicken
  • 6 slices bacon cooked and crispy
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • large pot
  • large skillet
  • colander
  • Wooden spoon

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Sprinkle the crispy bacon into the skillet with the beef. Stir well to combine and let flavors meld for about 2 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low and add the cream cheese and shredded sharp cheddar to the skillet. Stir until melted and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  6. Gently fold in the cooked pasta, making sure it's coated with the creamy meat mixture. Toss for about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Ladle onto plates and serve hot, optionally garnished with extra crispy bacon or chopped parsley.

Notes

Can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Cook bacon until crispy before adding to the dish. Use shorter pasta shapes for better sauce adherence. Drain excess fat from ground beef for best results. Cook pasta until al dente to prevent mushy texture. Reduce heat to low before adding cheese to prevent separation.
