Cheese Mixture Ingredients

Lasagna Assembly Ingredients

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet or pot, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it up as it browns. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the meat mixture. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion softens.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and beef broth. Season with salt, pepper, and optional herbs. Let simmer uncovered for 20-30 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  5. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and lay flat on a baking sheet.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
