Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound Ground beef (or ground turkey) The main protein for the meatballs.
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs Helps bind the meatballs together.
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan cheese Adds flavor and richness.
  • 1/4 cup Chopped fresh parsley For flavor and garnish.
  • 1 large Egg Acts as a binder for the meatballs.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Adds aromatic flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder Enhances the flavor of the meatballs.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt For seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper For seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried oregano Adds an Italian flavor.
For the Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 pounds Potatoes, peeled and cubed The base for the mashed potatoes.
  • 1/2 cup Milk For creaminess in the mashed potatoes.
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter Adds richness to the mashed potatoes.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese Melts beautifully on top.
  • 1/4 cup Chopped fresh parsley For garnish.

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Place the meatballs in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, place the cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
  6. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  7. In a large baking dish, spread the mashed potatoes evenly on the bottom. Place the baked meatballs on top of the mashed potatoes.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs.
  9. Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
