- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth with some small chunks.
- Stir in the melted butter, baking soda, and salt into the mashed bananas.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and sugar.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the banana mixture, then add the beaten egg and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped walnuts gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth, then add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix in milk as needed for consistency.
- Once the banana bread is completely cool, frost it with the cream cheese frosting.
