Instructions
Sift powdered sugar into a large mixing bowl.
Add meringue powder and water, mix on low speed until combined.
Increase speed to medium and beat for 5-7 minutes until glossy and stiff peaks form.
If desired, add vanilla extract for flavor.
Divide icing into bowls and add food coloring to achieve desired shades.
Prepare piping bags with small round tips and fill with colored royal icing.
Pipe flower shapes on parchment paper and allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
Knead fondant on a dusted surface until soft and pliable.
Color fondant with food coloring if desired, then roll out to 1/4 inch thick.
Cut out shapes using cookie cutters or molds and allow to dry for 4-6 hours.
Attach dried royal icing flowers to the cake using a small amount of royal icing.
Add fondant decorations to the cake as desired, using water or royal icing to help them stick.
