Seafood Boil Sauce - Garlic and Butter Dip

Ingredients
  

  • 1 small Onion Finely diced.
  • 6 cloves Garlic Finely diced.
  • 250 grams Unsalted butter Chopped into smaller blocks.
  • 3 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning For signature seafood flavor.
  • 2 sprigs Fresh thyme Or 1 teaspoon dried thyme.
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked paprika For depth and a smoky kick.
  • 0.5 tablespoon Chili powder For mild heat.
  • to taste Black pepper Adjust to preference.
  • to taste Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 Lemon Juiced.
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar Optional, for a slight sweetness.

Method
 

  1. Finely chop the small onion and garlic cloves either by hand or using a food processor.
  2. Chop the unsalted butter into smaller blocks and place it in a pan over medium heat. Stir until completely melted.
  3. Add the chopped garlic and onion to the melted butter. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in the Old Bay seasoning, smoked paprika, fresh thyme (or dried thyme), chili powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix thoroughly to combine.
  5. Squeeze the juice of the lemon into the sauce and add the brown sugar if using. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve the garlic and butter dip while still warm, perfect for drizzling over seafood or as a dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week and reheat before serving.
