- Rinse the fresh shrimp under cold water, then peel and devein if necessary. Place in a large mixing bowl.
- In a blender, combine the serrano or jalapeño peppers, fresh cilantro, and cold water. Blend until smooth. Taste and add a pinch of salt.
- Add the thinly sliced cucumber and julienned red onion to the bowl with the shrimp.
- Pour the blended sauce over the shrimp and vegetables, mixing gently to coat everything evenly.
- Marinate the shrimp in the lime juice mixture for about 10-15 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.
- After marinating, taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Garnish with avocado slices if desired.
- Serve chilled with tostadas or tortilla chips.
