Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Ziplock bag or container
  • grill
  • meat thermometer

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Soy sauce Adds a savory umami flavor that complements the meat.
  • 1/2 cup Olive oil A healthy fat that helps to keep the steak moist while grilling.
  • 1/3 cup Lemon juice The acidity brightens the flavors and tenderizes the meat.
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce Adds depth and a hint of sweetness to the marinade.
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garlic powder A convenient way to infuse garlic flavor without the hassle of peeling.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh garlic provides a robust flavor that enhances the marinade.
  • 3 tablespoons Dried basil This herb adds a fragrant, earthy note to the mix.
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Dried parsley A mild herb that brightens the overall flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper Adds a touch of heat and enhances the other flavors.
  • 3 pounds Sirloin steak The star of the show! Choose a good quality cut for the best results.

Instructions

  • In a large container or ziplock bag, combine soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, minced garlic, dried basil, dried parsley, and ground black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  • Add the sirloin steak to the marinade, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the container and refrigerate for at least one hour, preferably overnight for best results.
  • Preheat your grill to high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and let it sit at room temperature for about 20-25 minutes before grilling.
  • Grill the steak for 3-5 minutes on one side until a nice sear forms. Flip the steak and grill for another 3 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue cooking until the steak reaches your desired doneness (ideally rare to medium-rare, 130-135°F).
  • Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a tender and juicy steak.

Notes

This marinade is versatile and can be used with various cuts of steak. Adjust marinating time based on the thickness of the steak for optimal flavor absorption.
