Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

STEP 1: BROWN THE MEAT

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it’s browned. Make sure to break it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

STEP 2: COMBINE INGREDIENTS

  • In your slow cooker, add the cooked ground beef, chopped onion, and green bell pepper. Then, pour in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper. Stir everything together until well mixed.

STEP 3: COOK SLOPPY JOES

  • Cover the slow cooker and set it to low. Let it cook for about 4-6 hours, or until the flavors meld together and the vegetables are tender.

STEP 4: SERVE

  • Once done, give the mixture a good stir. Spoon the sloppy joe filling onto hamburger buns and serve hot.
