  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Adds richness and helps sauté the garlic.

  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes Gives the dish its signature heat.
  • 14 oz diced tomatoes Brings sweetness and moisture to the sauce.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances the overall flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Enhances the overall flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano Adds an earthy note that complements the tomatoes.
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil Adds flavor and a burst of color.

Instructions
 

  • Boil water in a large pot, add salt, and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add diced tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and oregano to the skillet. Stir and let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  • Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce in the skillet. Toss gently to coat, adding reserved pasta water as needed for consistency. Stir in fresh basil.
  • Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and additional basil if desired.
