Method
 

  1. Boil water in a large pot, add salt, and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add diced tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and oregano to the skillet. Stir and let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce in the skillet. Toss gently to coat, adding reserved pasta water as needed for consistency. Stir in fresh basil.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and additional basil if desired.
