Ingredients

  • 48 oz fully cooked frozen Homestyle Meatballs do not use Italian-style
  • 12 oz sweet red chili sauce Thai Kitchen recommended
  • 20 oz grape jelly
  • 20 oz pineapple tidbits canned, thoroughly drained and patted dry

Equipment

  • Crockpot or slow cooker (5 to 7 quart)
  • Spatula or large spoon
  • Can opener
  • Serving spoon or tongs

Method

  1. Place the frozen Homestyle meatballs directly into the crockpot. No thawing is needed.
  2. Pour the sweet red chili sauce evenly over the meatballs, then add the grape jelly on top.
  3. Add the thoroughly drained pineapple tidbits. Press them gently with a paper towel after draining to remove excess liquid.
  4. Stir everything together gently until the meatballs are coated as evenly as possible.
  5. Place the lid on the crockpot and cook on HIGH for 1 to 2 hours or on LOW for 3 to 4 hours.
  6. Stir once or twice during cooking to redistribute the sauce and ensure even coating on all meatballs.
  7. Remove the lid, give everything a final stir, and serve directly from the crockpot. Keep on WARM setting for parties.

Notes

Always use Homestyle meatballs, not Italian. Drain pineapple tidbits thoroughly and pat dry to prevent a thin sauce. For extra heat, stir in Sriracha or red pepper flakes before cooking. For a milder version, add a tablespoon of honey or brown sugar. Turkey meatballs work as a lighter substitute. Recipe halves easily in a 5 to 6 quart crockpot.
