Ingredients

  • 2 medium steaks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels
  • 1/4 cup red onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • Tongs
  • large bowl
  • Small pan

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Rub steaks with olive oil and season both sides with garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin, black pepper, and sea salt.
  3. Cook steaks for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare (longer if desired). Remove from skillet and rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Prepare rice if not already cooked. Warm beans and corn separately in small pans.
  5. Spoon 1 cup rice into each bowl, then top with black beans and corn.
  6. Slice steak against the grain into thin strips and arrange over rice and beans.
  7. Add sliced red onion, diced tomatoes, and cilantro. Sprinkle cheddar cheese, drizzle with sour cream, and finish with fresh lime juice.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Ultimate Steak Bowl.

Notes

Rest steak 5 minutes before slicing for best juiciness. Marinate 1 hour for more flavor. Swap rice with quinoa or cauliflower rice for a lighter version. For heat, add jalapeños or hot sauce. Store components separately to keep textures fresh.
