Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until well combined.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully incorporated.
- Take rounded teaspoonfuls of dough and roll them into small balls. Place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Gently flatten each ball to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top of each cookie.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden around the edges but still soft in the center.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
