Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup colored sugar or sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter and sugar mixture, and beat until well blended.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until the dough comes together.
  • Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into small balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Flatten each ball of dough using the bottom of a glass and sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top.
  • Refrigerate the cookie sheets for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until golden around the edges.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Use parchment paper for easy cleanup.
