  • 3 large Eggs Helps bind the cake mix and adds moisture.
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil Keeps the cake moist and tender.
  • 1 cup Water Necessary to mix with the cake ingredients.
  • 1 cup Frosting Store-bought or homemade, crucial for binding.
Coating Ingredients
  • 1 bag Candy melts Colorful melts used to coat the cake pops.
Optional Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Sprinkles For decoration.
  • 1 teaspoon Flavor extracts Vanilla, almond, or mint for extra flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate chips For added texture and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Edible glitter For a touch of sparkle.

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until smooth. Pour into the prepared pan and bake according to package instructions. Allow to cool completely.
  3. Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large mixing bowl. Add the frosting and mix until well combined. The mixture should hold together when pressed.
  4. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.
  5. Melt the candy melts according to package instructions. Dip one end of a lollipop stick into the melted candy, then insert it into the center of a cake ball.
  6. Dip the entire cake pop into the melted candy, allowing excess to drip off. Decorate with sprinkles or other toppings while the coating is still wet.
  7. Place the finished cake pops upright in a styrofoam block or cake pop stand to set.
