- In a mixing bowl, season ground beef with salt and pepper. Gently form into four equal-sized patties, creating a small indentation in each center.
- Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high heat (375°F–400°F).
- Grill patties for 4–5 minutes per side until nicely browned and internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
- Assemble burgers with buns, patties, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use 80/20 ground beef for juicy texture. Avoid pressing patties while cooking. Let rest a few minutes before serving. Add bacon, avocado, or your favorite sauces to customize.
